Country Financial Analysis

The statutory corporate income tax rate in South Africa is 28%.

In South Africa, corporate income taxes are paid in advance, based on estimated taxable income.

A decline in revenue and tax-deductible refinery maintenance costs resulted in a loss for 2019. No tax was due. The tax receivable arises as a result of advance tax payments for 2019 and a tax refund received for payments made in 2018.
